Dominos Pizza - Kiwis Connection
Our New Zealand cousins are about to be invaded by America’s
number one pizza delivery chain, Domino’s. With Pizza Hut
enjoying a monopoly since purchasing their main competition,
Eagle Boys, a few years ago their market dominance appears to be coming to an end.
Avery aggressive and deliberate market plan that Domino’s used in Australia to establish
itself as number one is about to be rolled out across the Tasman in New Zealand
to give the Kiwis a pizza choice. The Domino’s marketing trends in the land of the
white cloud, wobble boards, school lunch programs and direct mail should stamp the
chains dominance in a plan that take to prisoners. With consistent TV, mail drops and
local store marketing rewards the franchisee in no time this is a proven formula that
appears bring to top of mind the Domino’s as the pizza choice.
HEAD OFFICE MAKES IT THE LAND OF THE LONG WHITE CLOUD.

FEATURE STORY
In this issue, we are getting amongst the tiles of our cover story on Colombo’s,
owned by the very successful Lebanese Australian Kurban family. They have shown
how hard work, dedication and family bond can pay off. Their customers grow up,
become staff and work for Colombo’s for a number of years while putting themselves
through higher degrees and education. The Kurban family also considers these special
people as family. This is one of the old established restaurants that have taken a "leap
of faith" and rebuilt and developed this beautiful restaurant in Melbourne. When you
make it to Melbourne, it should be placed on your ‘must visit’ list of. An extensive
menu that is creative, yet reasonable in cost. Read our special report.
We hope to see you at the Fine Food Australia Exhibition (www.foodaustralia.
com.au) in Sydney’s Darling Harbour on September 9 – 12, 2003, with the visiting
crew from the United States. If you have any points of interest, send us an email and
we would love to catch up with you to do a story about your pizza experience. Bring
any interesting things along when you’re visiting the show. Make yourself known to
us.
We did mention in our last issue that if you are interested in finding suppliers and
agents in Australia and the U.S. to contact us and we would put you in touch with other
interested parties. We have had a few responses and passed them on. So, if you would
like to find a market for your products or find a product to sell in Australia or the U.S.,
we may be able to help you.
See you at the show in September. Keep those stories coming in. Regards from
your Australasian Associate Publisher.
